The highly anticipated pan-India sci-fi thriller Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan, Deepika Padukone and others was released yesterday. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie received positive reviews and has set new box office records on its opening day.
Kalki 2898 AD grossed a staggering Rs 191.5 crores globally on its first day of release. This places the film among the top three highest-grossing Indian movies of all time, behind only RRR (Rs 221 crore) and Baahubali The Conclusion (Rs 215 crore).
The production house ‘Vyjayanthi Movies’ released a poster with the day 1 number on their social media with a caption ,”Let’s Celebrate Cinema”.
In addition to its impressive global performance, Kalki 2898 AD has also registered the all-time highest day 1 gross for an Indian movie in North America, earning over $3.85 million.
