‘Robo’ is one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema history. Star maker Director Shankar mainly planned the film a decade before its release in 2010.
Initially, Kamal Haasan was to play the hero and Preity Zinta the heroine, with look tests also conducted.
Kamal revealed why he didn’t proceed with the film. He said Shankar approached him for the both the hero role in ‘Robo’ and the villain role in ‘2.0’.
Due to budget and remuneration issues, the project didn’t materialize at the time.
Kamal decided not to proceed with ‘Robo’ due to market considerations. He joked that he preferred to stay a hero rather than play a villain in ‘2.0’.
Rajinikanth ultimately starred in ‘Robo’.
